What is FullFlap.TV

....is about inspiring a new wave of aviators with the staggering possibilities of modern flight.

         - Whether it is flying through the snow capped mountains of New Zealand, getting to that next business meeting on time or just chucking an aircraft about in the sky in aerobatics.

....is about assuming that everyone can be a pilot and we will not stop until every viewer is flying an aircraft as pilot in command.

           - This can be the smallest microlight, a personal jet, a commercial airliner or a military fighter. They all use the same air and share many of the same experiences.

.....is about inspiring training pilots. Demonstrating to them that the work is worth it.

.....is about reinvigorating current pilots who’ve been brought down and disillusioned by all the constant talk of rules, regulations and negativity.

            - This isn`t aviation to us. Of course it has rules but it has far more possibilities. We’ll be finding the ways to get these people back in the air and loving it!

FullFlap.TV is not about looking at aircraft for the sake of it. We don’t cover air shows where all you get to do is watch other people having fun. We want you in that aircraft. It’s also not about looking back the past and dreaming. It’s about modern flight and the new possibilities it offers.

Technology

We are using the most cutting edge technology to move step by step towards our goal - a global show about the adventure of flying. By using internet video and chat, you can be as involved in this project if you live on a remote Pacific island or in the middle of New York City, as if you lived next door to our studio. You can even present shows!

Presenters and other roles

We get a lot of people wanting to be presenters on FullFlap.TV.

First thing’s first. You don’t get to be a presenter until you’ve done other stuff.

Why do we do this? Simple. It weeds out TV “celebrity fame seekers” from the people who are truly passionate about aviation and the project. That said, if you are about to embark on a journalism or production course, there may still be possibilities if you have passion and great skills.

We need people who understand the reality of internet production (or are prepared to learn fast). We need people with new ideas and the imagination to make those ideas happen on tiny to invisible budgets. We need people who watch TV analytically. People who know why a feature worked, not that it was just cool to watch. We can think that way. If you can, then talk to us now.

It doesn`t matter if you want to go in front of the camera or not. It doesn`t matter what age you are (18+), if you are passionate about aviation at all levels, then we want to talk to you.

What roles are available?

These are the types of roles we have. All of them follow a progression. We’ll let you know what is free.

- Story writing (including story and picture research)

- Feature production ideas, logistics, researchers and producers

- Market research and strategy

- Strategic future planning

- Presenter opportunities are very limited but if you have shown us what you can do in other ways then they may spring up suddenly.

Now send us an email with a couple of simple pointers.

1) Your name

2) Age (especially important for under 21’s)

3) What your aviation interests are and what experience you have. Aerobatics, x-country, adventure flying, arctic, jungle, etc etc.

4) A tiny bit about your non-GA self. Your other interests, hobbies, life goals, work

5) If you want to be on camera, any online video of you on You Tube or any other site.

6) And finally what you could help FullFlap.TV with....have a look at the roles below.

Don’t spend too long on it, just send us a few pointers. Then if we like what we see, we’ll contact you.

How much time is needed?

That is up to you. Most people already involved in FullFlap.TV give 2-3 hours a week from their own home but that is totally flexible.

How much is the pay?

FullFlap.TV will never be a place to get rich. We will always spend money on content over luxury for ourselves. This project is about promoting an activity. It is not a corporation after a slice of the action.

This makes it all the more important that you are interested in getting involved for the experience rather for pay.

Right now, money only goes to the people who keep the project alive (sales and admin). To put it bluntly there is no money for the people who have the fun, including us.

If the reward of access to amazing people and amazing aircraft, and going and doing amazing things isn’t enough then you are probably not enthusiastic enough for FullFlap.TV anyway. Sorry to sound harsh but we need really passionate people on this project. People who just want to be paid to be famous and have fun (there are lots like that, you’ll be amazed) will never cut it on this show. That said, if you bring something really special to the show and get involved heavily in the behind the scenes work too, then there could be a very different and very bright future for you as part of the team.

So why should you bother getting involved?

Firstly - You’ll be part of the FullFlap.TV team. Your name will be on the show credits with your role as proof of that. You’ll be part of one of the most exciting developments in modern aviation media. You’ll be speaking to the most important people in aviation, perhaps getting invited to go for lunch with them. We are at the cutting edge and intend to stay there with an aggressive development plan. We will never stop changing and improving. If you can keep up with us, then you’ll enjoy the ride.

Secondly - The opportunities to travel globally and fly in different countries, around the planet will increase over time, especially with your efforts.

Thirdly - If you like video editing but tend to end up filming other people’s weddings or birthday parties, then how about being responsible for editing some amazing aviation footage for a global audience. Can you deliver exciting, fast paced content from long, drawn out, raw footage, retakes on tape?

Fourthly - If you always thought something should be covered on aviation TV but never was, then make it happen with FullFlap.TV. We have a policy at FullFlap.TV that no idea is too stupid.

Finally - If you want to go into media, then we’ll give you practical experience. The editor will be Richard Midson, a former international news editor, presenter and reporter. He will help you craft stories and ideas. He’ll help you develop an understanding of writing for an audience and how to use words for effect. You’ll also get a personal reference from him for any jobs you apply for and the ability to write “FullFlap.TV researcher” or whatever position you hold, on your CV, with all the skills you developed while doing it.

What about expenses?

We may be able to provide limited expenses for on-location filming (lunch and things like that) but this will depend on the project and whether it is being sponsored, or supported. When FullFlap.TV is able to pay “real” expenses it will, but it will always be limited. If you see this as a chance to get involved in aviation in an exciting way as a hobby, or to develop skills that you could use in a future career, then this will be the project for you.

Will you pay me to go and review my mates firm?

No. And yet people ask!

Where do I work from?

FullFlap.TV is a global project, that means everyone works from where they are, at their own computer, in any country around the world. Providing you have broadband you can be part of FullFlap.TV’s global office. In fact we actively encourage people from outside of the UK to get involved. Your chance to get on camera could come a lot quicker too!

What next ?

Simply send us an email to involved@fullflap.tv and lets talk.

And finally, do we take school/college work experience students?

Unfortunately, no. Due to the nature of what we do, we are unable to provide supervision in situations which are potentially very dangerous. So sorry, no.
